I was wondering if Snape was a virgo. Aren't they renowned for their obsessive tidyness? This is so snape its uncanny Barbara - they are following the Dumbledore replacement story closely on The Leaky Cauldron site btw - and I'm 23rd March! :-)

Just took the "which character are you?" quiz. Turns out I'm most like Alexander Dane-aka Dr. Lazarus. Had no idea that would be the result. However, before, I had asked myself which AR character I would feel most comfortable meeting if his characters were actual people- my answer, Alexander Dane. Would love to chat with him about Richard III. (But would refrain from "By Grabthar's Hammer...") Which character would all of you feel most at ease with? BTW, don't think "bloody Phil Allen" was one of the options in the test.

Oh...I'm CERTAIN that Snape is a Scorpio. We're naturals for Slytherin House. So, happy birthday day to you...happy birthday to you...happy birthday Mr. Professor...happy birthday to you (sung in my best Marilyn Monroe voice). :-)

FYI, I saw NO little Harry Potters this year (but many many spidermen). Unfortunately, I didn't come across any Snapes either, or even a Dumbledore! Oh well...only have to wait 15 more days for the "real" thing! Happy Halloween everyone.

None. We like it in the dark.

Barbara the Oz, all 3 "Ring Cycles" were shot in the same production shoot in N.Z. at the same time. All worked out contractually to all's satisfaction, unlike predecessor "The 3 Musketeers" and "4 Musketeers" in the '70's, where the actors didn't know they were doing 2 separate movies and sued for payment for same.

Thank you ES, for the news about Christopher Lee. I am wondering about the two movies HP/LOTR's. I know the three LOTR's are finished but could he be in both? I guess we will find out soon. I have to agree about the High Sheriff, He IS an Aries! I am a 21st of March Pisces/Aries cusp. How could he not be, in all that Lovely Black water Taffeta?! Nothing Vex's George hey?! Harlii, keep smiling, and thanks for sharing here. Severina, have you tried any of the local Library's? You can ask and maybe they can order in a copy of ROTN. They have so many audio books. Hope this helps. Bye everyone.

Just found a press book for GQ on Ebay with a picture of AR I've not seen before. 16 photos and 41 pages of text - all in German, so perhaps GBers in that part of the world may be interested. Just type in "Galaxy Quest" in the search prompt.

Severina--it looks like ROTN is still available from Amazon.com for less than $40. Shipping will probably be steep for you, but it is worth the money.

I share your love of audiobooks--through them I, a pitifully slow reader, have doubled my book consumption. They have also helped me through some really dreary household tasks and long car trips. I have also found that many of the actors with whom AR has appeared in various films, plays and TV do a lot of BOT recording. Like AR himself, they have introduced me to some great literature I might have passed up before. So, listen on!

Harlii--I forgive you and I apologize myself to EVERYONE for anything I might have ever done to offend them. I am in sort of similar situation with very serious emotional and physical problems and AR (among a few other things) is my escape. I know you are not asking for it, but you have my support *hugs*. :-)

Yummmmmmyy...thanks for sharing the pics, ES! And to everyone who celebrates it...HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :-) I am not going as anybody (though I considered stealing one of my dad's suits and going as Hans >:).) this year, and I'm somewhat sad about it, because I wanted to dress up and have some fun, but I am going to a Halloween party with one of my friends. Unfortunately it isn't a costume party, but it sounded fun anyway :-). Maybe next year I'll go as Hans. Anyone planning on dressing up as their favorite AR character?

By the way, I took the AR character quiz a while back...can you believe I'm the most like Metatron? *evil laugh*

ES...funny, funny, funny! :-)

Gotta go, ya'll, have a safe and happy holiday one and all!

Well I don't know about Snape, but I reckon the Sheriff is an Aries. Being one myself, I am well known for my paddy-throwing abilities in my office. I was full-flow thisafternoon, stomping about and muttering to myself, when one of my colleagues figured out how to shut me up. He just looked over the top of his pc and casually asked "Something vexes thee..?". Well bless his cotton socks, I flushed red, grinned and burst into a fit of the giggles! Oh how well he knows me!

ES- Thanks SO much for those pictures - made a lonely gal very happy! Harli - I so appreciated your contribution about yourself - nice to know that their are real lives behind the comments of all the AR devotees that congregate here, (regardless of the extent or nature of their devotion!) Maybe, it's the quiet, introspection of the man that attract the admiration of people who have much in their own life to reflect on. Like you, I should know! (Sorry - if this entry is too long for some ppl - just use 'scroll'- it's quite easy!!!) One of my life's 'crap-factors' is that I have an ABI and can read functionally, but not for a long period of time or where I need to maintain a high level of concentration. Haven't read a book in ten years, but in that time have listened to hundreds of 'talking-books'. (Reading used to be one of my favourite past-times, so these tapes have made my life alot more pleasurable!) That's why, I REALLY want to get a copy of TROTN but can't find it anywhere! The shops have told me that it costs about $90.00(Aus) but that it's out of production. The library can't get it, even inquired with the Blind Institute, (who also provide for ppl with diff' disabilities.) No joy!!! Any Aussies out there that can give advice on how to get my mitts on it - PLEASE let me know, otherwise, I'll have to resort to spending my hard-earned pension on ordering it from O/S, (Which I'm prepared to do, if all else fails!) First barged my way into this GB a few weeks ago, and, like others, find my days a bit more pleasurable knowing that I can touch-base here B4 hitting the sack! Nite' all!

Hey Harli. Regarding TROTN I found it well worth the cash. The scene between Eustacia and Clem at the wellhead with all it’s hidden metaphors is worth many a replay. It also has the added bonus of Mr R singing and attempting an extremely creditable Egdon accent. I also have to say that the range of characters he manages to portray in the reading, ranging from an ancient old Wessex man to a somewhat stuck up seventeen year old girl are amazing. I had the luck of finding another audio book, Blind Corner at my local library. Six hours of that divine voice. Might I also add my own best wishes to all the others who have posted similar thoughts. It takes a lot of courage to open up as you did, and I am thinking of you.

Thanks everyone. Your comments mean a lot. I like knowing I'm not alone. And it means more considering my history at this board.

On an AR note, I'm working a 2nd job at Barnes and Noble now and tonight I found where I can order The Return of the Native from our distributors. It's $44 and some change, but I get a 30% discount. Harlii and others: Here's a little birthday treat for you and any other fellow Scorpios out there: an assessment of a Scorpio/Pisces match-up. Enjoy...(and congratulations on getting treatment, Harlii. That can be difficult, and it's very brave of you to confront these issues and do what you need to take care of yourself. Kudos, girl!)

Just remember that when you're involved with a Scorpio, you're involved with a detective, a therapist, a hypnotist and a transformer. When you get involved with a Pisces, you get involved with a rescuer, a victim, a mystic and an idealist.

If you can give a Scorpio loyalty, control and deep understanding you have a better chance of getting their love and affection. If you can give a Pisces help, health, fantasy and art, you have a better chance of getting their love and affection.

Both Scorpio and Pisces spend a great deal of time in the world of feelings emotions and intuitions. Each one of you experiences life as an ebb and flow of emotional tides and currents. Neither one of you deals with people so much by their outward appearance as by their inner states. Each one of you has a degree of psychic power. You can cultivate a mutual appreciation of music and art.

TIP Work on your non-verbal communication together.

Learn to dance together. Share a ride on a water bed. Intangibles play a great role in your life together. To share greater success, develop a greater understanding of the interconnectedness and interdependence of all forms of life. In other words, develop your empathy, compassion and emotional rapport.

Scorpio is a strong individual, an extremely good friend, a formidable enemy, and prone to intense likes and dislikes. Scorpio lives in the world of black and white. Scorpio has little time for superficial people, places or things. There are at least two sides to Pisces' personality. One is more kind, loving, tolerant and long-suffering than most people. The other can be biting. Pisces, you don't want to hurt people, unless you are feeling righteous and need to punish the guilty.

Scorpio prefers deep commitment, deep conversation and deep thoughts. If Scorpio can't tell it like it is, Scorpio prefers to keep quiet. It should be mentioned that Scorpio has quite a few secrets. Scorpio has forgiveness issues that tend to make personal relationships challenging.

We could write a whole book about the looks that Scorpio gives. We'd have a chapter on staring and a chapter on x-ray vision. No doubt people say things about Scorpio's eyes: "If looks could kill," "I feel like you're mentally undressing me," etc.

Scorpio has proven the ability to hold on. Scorpio's staying power is second to none. Now Scorpio needs to learn to let go. Every day Scorpio needs to find something to sell, give away, throw out or burn. If Scorpio wants to get the most out of life, Scorpio needs to let go of old crap, literally, figuratively, and most of all, psychologically.

It's fair to say that Pisces is imaginative, a dreamer, and even mystical. Pisces certainly seems to absorb and drink in surroundings more than most people. Pisces has mood swings and can benefit from live music and dance. Pisces can break the chains of fate and destiny. More than most people, Pisces is a product of beliefs as much as disbeliefs. As Henry Ford said Pisces, "Whether you think you can or you can't, you are right."

Dear Hoochi coochi Harli. Happy birthday for Friday and I think you are fantastic. If I was a perfect person I would be reading this from a lap top in a sunny resort somewhere or I just wouldn't have the time to be reading this as I would have... well I am sure everyone can think of alternatives to fill in the dots....probably involving A.R. himself. What I am trying to say is you are able to communicate so well that even though we have never met I relate to you (as O.T. and Constance also pointed out). Even though I never had the "go to the play and meet A.R. experience" I valued yours, as I thought you were was close to my own mortal personality and in that you were my hero For the day, as you could not walk on water, there were no miracales or miraculous clicks. You just felt it(not clicked), enjoyed the show, said how it felt to you and it was real. Therefore it was real to me.

Sometimes life is shitty. Then it gets worse, and you wish for the not as shitty bad times. Dear Harli remember that fortunately all things change and gratfully you brighten up the sometimes shitty days for people here (me especially)!

More merchandising: My local Safeway has a whole display of Scholastic brand HP products, including colouring books, sticker books, stencil books, poster books and postcard books. All include a shot or two of Snape--nothing we haven't seen before, but I had a good giggle imagining myself colouring in teh professor. Can you imagine if the books were enchanted, like the portraits are in HP? If I coloured outside the lines I'd get a stern talking-to!!! heee heee hee! They retail for 6.99 Canadian. Thin, good mailing size. I can get our deprived overseas friends some easily. Just email me.

Small trivia insert. Did you know Christopher Lee played Rasputin in the 1966 hammer version? OK maybe you did, but I didn't! Fastfilm is probably right about him being unlikely to get the part of Dumbledore though if he was in Lord of the Rings. I didn't realise that (not being a huge fan).

I'm really worried about you now :-) I want you to know that if i could hug you i would, and i'd like to take this moment while making a complete arse of myself/opening my feelings that i always come on this guestbook feeling sad and leave it laughing because there's always a funny comment to read or a spatula thing to giggle at.
And, since we're talking about click moments, i just remembered mine. I'd watched Die Hard in Sept . last year, and went to see HP, completely oblivous that the nice looking evil guy in black was to play another nice-looking evil guy in black, and when it got to the bit where he came into the dungeon in a pissy and i realized it was *HIM* i fell of my seat with a squeaky noise. Voila, my click moment. :-D

Hi Harlii! It takes some guts to open up like you did, even on a guest book where for all intents and purposes we are anonymous! Lets just say I probably have alot in common with you... and keeping focussed on something/someone that makes you smile (like AR!!) is GREAT! Not sad! There are alot of things one could use as escapism that are detrimental. AR is a VERY talented, attractive actor who has been in VERY interesting movies. And yes, sexy... and also a humanitarian and kind man. And if being a Rickmanic encourages us to ASPiRe to be better, more credit to him as an actor! Acting, its not just entertainment...

I LIKE Alan Rickman and I won't make any apologies for it either. I think he's a very attractive man; teeth and nose and all!! Besides, his actions speak very loudly of what a nice guy he truly is.
What 'clicked' for me when I met him was not so much the man himself, but the people I've met and the friends I have made because of him. Granted, it was nothing Alan actually did through any effort himself...but I was able to enjoy the few hours in the theatre seeing him and can further enjoy the friendship I have made in years to come.
I know the man is not a god...but I'm certain that if he COULD heal the sick, he would DO so, and without hesitation!

Harlii, then be glad, as am I, that Suzanne brought back this nifty chat. That was sure a cheer-up to me. Please elaborate on what you meant by "no click" when meeting the man who is the object of admiration in person. I, as a photographer occasionally of the very well known (Bill Wyman last week) have built a 30 years old wall of professional aplomb when encountering celebs, even as one who is quite naturally shy, so I can't be objective about meeting same. I am just doing my art-related job the best I can, which sort of makes me seem one of them in person, even if I am one of the usually detested press...

L.A., - Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 09:28:55 (PST)

For the past few years since college, I just haven't been *happy*, generally speaking. I have my good days, but there are more blah days. I've recently been diagnosed with clinical depression and OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). I'm currently taking medication for this to help with both the depression and the OCD. The primary way I've dealt with this up until about 1.5 months ago when I started the medication was to have a very active fantasy life. I read books constantly, many times the same books over and over. But last year I got into Harry Potter and Alan Rickman. Visiting this board at that time, then starting my own with some friends I made here and daily communication with them about many subjects has kept me somewhat sane. The key, however, was Alan Rickman. I just met the man in June, didn't have the fabulous "CLICK" that I thought would happen when I met him, but yet I'm still amazed by his performances, entertained by his movies, and intrigued by the tidbits I hear of his personal life.

I am not dating anyone, I live with my parents though I'm a grown woman (I'll be 29 on Friday), I have a crappy job and a car that breaks down every other week.

If I need to put Alan Rickman on a pedastal to help me deal with my life as it is now, with the depression and other negative experiences I'm going through, I will. We none of us know what each of us are going through on a daily basis and what it takes for us to be able to just deal, to be able to just wake up in the morning and get out of bed, let alone leave the house. I know I haven't cornered the market on a having a crappy life right now, and God knows I'm a lot better off than many people. I just would hope that we could all take a step back once in a while when we come here and try and put ourselves in each other's shoes. This fascination with Alan Rickman may be the only thing getting some of us through the day. Yes, it's sad. Trust me, I know it. I'm not here asking for sympathy, just patience and understanding because I know I'm not the only person who visits here who is going through something emotionally or physically or mentally and whose interest in Alan Rickman has made dealing with those problems somewhat more bearable.

I've had to experience my own problems to make me realize how wrong it is of me to come here and criticize anyone about the way they express their admiration for AR not knowing them personally and what they might be dealing with. I'd like to apologize now, publically to ANYONE and EVERYONE I have offended by my comments here. I would hope you'd forgive the person (me) in view of the problem (OCD/Depression). The two are definitely not one in the same. Instead of cold showers, maybe some of us need to borrow some of my Zoloft. Be well.

What I like about AR is that, when he has some free time, he goes around London and heals the sick, thereby relieving the load on the national health system.

Honestly, do some of you women ever listen to yourselves sometimes? He's a good actor who's done good, interesting performances. Surely that's enough reason to like him. Why load him up with every virtue imaginable?

And he's not really that attractive nor are all of us responding to his physical attributes. Some cold showers in order, I think.

Started the morning yesterday with Claudia's clip from "Rasputin" and today with ACC's additions to the list. Both like a couple of really good, chewy brownies. Er, for breakfast?! (Why is it I feel like one of the women outside Rasputin's door? Oh, Oh, that's a little too much insight!! Starting next week, in prep for Thanksgiving, I think I'll go "cold turkey" on all this, a Rickman-related diet, and bring the fan-thing back under control. I swear. Meanwhile, 5 more days of gluttony, mooning about and viewing various clips--a steady intake of frosted brownies, "box" brownies, and homemade brownies. Must be ACC's mention of the waistline. I can see my actual waistline, but not my "mental waistline" which has gone all out of wack! Now I'll start leaving notes on my computer screen--remember notes on the refrig door--this will be a new phenom. Will let you know how it goes. Actually, if I check in before Thanksgiving, it means I failed at the diet!)

Christopher Lee would be a smasher as Dumbledore--let's hope his health is good. Best of luck to the replacement, whoever he is. BTW, is there any solid news on whether Rickman will be back for Prisoner of Azkaban? The rumour mill says he might not--according the latest latrine-o-grams, he had been saying he "didn't have enough to do" in the first two films. Well, he'd have PLENTY to do in PoA. Hang in there, Alan! Don't leave us!

Thanks Gaye (SA). Sally sorry I have taken so long to get back to you, Regretfully, no AR Interview but I really liked the chat with the Director Chris Columbus. There was one very quick scene with Lucius Malfoy running his thumb over HP'S scar at the end that I had not seen before. This is all very tantilizing of course but the film will bring it all together. Has there been any more news re Richard Harris in the UK?

Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone! I forget who asked but, yes, all my birthday parties were Halloween Masquerade parties--and in fact, they still are. I realize this is horribly O/T, but for those of you who are dressing up for Halloween, who or what are you this year? (I'll start--I'm supPOSed to be Isadora Duncan, IF and only IF I'm feeling better by Thursday. Come on...white blood cells...do your thing!)

And speaking of costumes...plus getting back ON-topic...I saw in an earlier post that the beard in Rasputin was fake. This may be a stupid question, but do we know this to be true? It looked so real in the video (to me, anyway). The thought crossed my mind that that is what AR would look like if we were trapped on a deserted island together for eternity. Hey...it could happen! ;-)

Yes, Jizel, a really good list. Here are my 2 additions:

1- He's a stunningly sexy older man who has improved with age and who appeals (dare I say, "turns on") all ages, which is very encouraging to someone who thinks older women can be beautiful and older men have more sex appeal than "tadpoles".

2- His unconventionality

Thanks Gaye! Looks like I am better off going to the cinema to see the trailer :-)

Great list Jizel! I agree w/everything you said. *drops spatula*

I just finished watching the HP "Oprah" episode. It was quite informative and it was cool to see how Daniel, Rupert, and Emma have grown. They showed some awesome clips and we did see a bit of The Man in the dueling scene in a few shots and on a trailer. Hope you guys got to see it...I can't wait for the next movie! It looks awesome.

Rickfan37--I thought madeleines were those little shell-shaped plain cakes. You know, the things Proust goes into gyrations about. The cakes in the film were big as doughnuts and slavered with chocolate. Actually, I could go for one of those right now! Wonder how many times they shot that scene and how many he had to eat? Ha--must have been delightful, up to a point!

Definitely a grin, but perhaps sligthly more to the mysterious for me.:) Another thing about the Bells, which is probably just me being nutty, but I find the guitars at the beginning of the piece reminding me of AR's voice! There is something in the soft, semidark tone...*sigh*

Claudia, thank you for the Rasputin clip. Every time I see that scene, I feel so sorry for the actress - she must have ended up with a mouthful of fake beard hair, which I imagine would be a bit off-putting.

Sally, the HP scenes shown on Today Tonight recently were very brief. We did catch a glimpse of Snape waving his wand in the duelling scene, and a very quick view of him from behind. The interviews with Dan, Rupert and Emma showed how much they've grown up since the first movie, with both Dan and Rupert having much deeper voices.

Claudia
GA US - Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 13:31:32 (PST)

Jude, I love those words! They've suddenly gotten a completely new meaning to me...

How about:
35) The way he makes charming people come together in guestbooks. (even in 'real' life, sometimes!)
36) The air of sensitive sweetness about him.
37) His smile!(or do you count that in under 12?)
38) The way he makes you read, listen to, watch, do things you've never done before.
39) The way he makes you swoon!
40) The way he teaches potions. ;) I look forward to his duelling teaching!

I bought the best of TB, because I didn't know where to find his voiceover. My SO tried to convince me it was him in TBI, but then I suddenly heard The Voice in TBII (the Bells) and there were no doubts any more. I love his "two slightly sampled guitars" since that's the longest phrase, but "and Tubular Bells!" is also just Wow!

O/T - Those of you who frequent Flights of Fancy may already be familiar with one particular Sheriff of Nottingham fiction. With the author’s permission and support, I have hosted the story in full, and urge any of you who haven’t yet read it to do so. It really is beautifully written and a wonderful story, well worth curling up with for a weekend (or if you’re feeling ill…Gwen!). There’s tonnes of it though so I’ve had to split it into sections.

Nottingham’s Return

Gwenn, Get Well Soon and Happy Birthday tomorrow! Halloween is my favorite holiday too. Did you grow up having Halloween/Birthday parties? My birthday is Feb. 18th- have had Valentine/Birthday parties. Am technically an Aquarian but have been told by others than am more like a Piscean- guess depends on how or if I change a light bulb? When I'm down and feeling blue, I think of one word that ecourages me... ASPiRe, verb: 1. to have a noble desire or ambition 2. to rise aloft. (Of course we all recognize the consonants in this word!) I think of AR and I feel myself begin to rise aloft! (And if that doesn't work, which hasn't happened yet, I could always try an ASPiRin)=)

I’ve finally composed a list of reasons why I love AR, and I thought I’d share it with you fine people.

1) He has such great hair. Isn’t that floppiness adorable?
2) He has a very interesting nose. I could spend ages looking at that nose.
3) He has really cute feet!
4) His height. He’s tall and yummy. Yum.
5) He comes across as being very serious, which makes humour fanfictions all that more funny
6) But he probably isn’t, so that’s even better.
7) He has such nice, long legs (Probably related to 4, but I don’t care. They deserve a category of their own)
8) He has weird eyes. They glow amber in the right light. How romantic…
9) HANDS!!
10) His body is proportioned just-so. Yuuuuuuum….
11) His acting, of course, but that’s implied since it’s so damn outstanding.
12) The way he grins, the way he looks worried, the way he looks evil….you get the point.
13) The eyebrows. Veeery expressive.
14) The way he’s so damn diligent about his fans. And his work.
15) The way he gives so much about his life by the way he says things and doesn’t mean to :-)
16) The way he hates journalists (apparently)
17) His Voice. But that goes without saying.
18) And the way he uses long, meticulous, brooding silences to make you think
19) His Je-nai-se-quia (sp?) because it’s not every man who has hoards of female fans begging for his underpants.
20) He looks a complete angel when he’s not doing bad guys
21) And when he does do them, he always makes you wish they got away with it.
22) The way his voice sounds when he’s exasperated; “Do you mind? We’ve just been married!!”
23) Two words - In demand. Ooooo….
24) His on-screen chemistry. Always prevalent, always interesting.
25) When he sings. Does that go under 17?
26) The way he looks in black ~*drops spatula~*
27) The way (according to peeps who have met him) he always keeps eye contact when talking to people. They must feel special :-)
28) The way he helps others in the theatre and films and such
29) When you write fanfiction, his character is always so manoeuvrable because he adapts so easily to all roles
30) And the way he’s so secret about his life.
31) And the way everyone always refers to him as the man who revolutionised bad-guys.
32) And the way he looks so damn fine in jeans. Scrumptious…
33) An the way he’s probably completely oblivious to the fact we are so obsessed with every fibre of his being and talk about him endlessly. Muaha!
34) And the way he has unwittingly formed the Spatula Cult.

Argh! Run out of time and strength for my fingers. Any suggestions??

Eleanor, I don't remember any weird snorting noises on TBI, but there is a track on TBII that features a voice very much like the "Joe Gutter" voice from Closet Land. Do you think AR is quite possibly the only man in the whole of the universe who could make the word 'glockenspiel' sound unbelievable sexy?
Added to which, I think quite possibly that TBII ought to be a CD to add to our school's collection once we get back after half term - for the children's musical education, of course, what other possible motive could there be??!!
Happy hols everyone!

Actually, you are BOTH right. There are voiceovers on both TB I and II and they are two different people. Same concept, I might add, but the TB II is most definitely our dear Alan. And although he is not credited, per se, there is credit given to "A Strolling Player", which quite coincidentally matches the initials for Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman. Clever, no?
Ali-Pat
Dayton, OH USA - Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 08:49:29 (PST)

Tubular Bells II--No, AR is not credited nor is any other person credited with the voice over. But it is unmistakenably AR.

As far as whether its I or II--I typed the title right off my CD jewel case...but then maybe the distributor made a mistake???

I would just like to point out that it is Tubular Bells part I were there is a voiceover not II. And are you sure that it's Alan Rickman because I must have listened to it a thousand times and I still cannot decide whether it is him or not. The only Piscean I know at all well is my eldest sister, who, whilst I love her dearly, is a neurotic space-cadet! No - absolutely no similarity to AR! (Does change her own light-bulbs tho'!) Saw the storms in Britain on the news tonite - glue those windows shut, (after making sure Jamie is safe and soundly secured on that sofa!) Barbara - watched Today/Tonight. Interesting but disappointingly Snape-free except for a few distant shots, which become microscopic when viewed on my postage-stamp sized t.v.! Saving pennies madly for a huge 'you-beaut' wide-screen t.v. and DVD player! Acquired the Rasputin video today. Haven't had a chance to watch it, but looking forward to it. Cute cover! Man, but that guy looks good with eye-liner!!! Latest topic of discussion - Hopefully, this guy will capture the spirit of Dumbledore as well as Harris did, but I think it would be distracting to have someone who looked too different. Make-up and costume can only achieve so much! Still can't believe Harris is gone...

One more note: I am looking forward to see how Richard Harris' stand in does the part of Dumbledore, but I don't really care if he looks like Dumbledore or can imitate RH's voice, I just want him to be able to capture the part like RH did. Sounds like the weather is rapidly changing for all of us- lucky Aussies with summer coming and us northerners having to bundle up. Just yesterday I was at the Denver Six Flags amusement park on some pretty wild rollercoasters in the sunshine. Today, cold and drizzly- and my laundry is still hanging outside getting soaked- too lazy to bring it in. Just read why Brits make good villians on the News and Info page. Was interested to read that many British actors (such as AR in Die Hard) "owe some of their brittle, cynical brillance to (Laurence) Olivier's Richard (III)". I'm also a Shakespeare fan and Richard III fan- regardless of what Richard III may have been like in reality- Shakespeare had crafted the perfect smooth, sexy, alluring, coniving villian that our Man so expertly plays. Still think he would be great in Richard III movie or play- what'dya all think?? Even if he doesn't, I can see him in my minds eye in that role. ***Oooooo!*** Love that Man!

Hi again,

Jizel, glad you liked Barchester Chronicles which, along with The Preacher, is one of his best performances ever, I think. Or to be more precise, one which both exposed his talent to the full and pleased my tastes at the same time. Barbara, uh, 'total opposites'? I hope you were talking geography! ;) Eleanor, you have a romantic imagination... not sure my windows are the same as in TMD (I have to go and check now, or I'll be awake all night!;) but they certainly are English and can get blown open very easily. The fasteners are so old, they are reduced to dust now. And if Alan was sitting on my window seat wrapped up in a blanket, I'd pull him in onto the sofa pretty sharp-ish (uh, all for his own safety of course, I live in a top-floor attic flat with windows that open of their own accord).

Ahem. And what I came here to say is I've just heard BBC1 (or 2, can't remember) are altering their scheduled programme tonight to give a tribute to Richard Harris at 11pm. Thought the UK people might be interested.

I don't know if this is of any interest, but my parents cut out this article for me from a UK Sunday Paper. How true it is I'm not sure, but they are thinking of using Richard Harris's double for future HP films. Harry Robinson has apparently appeared in CoS as a body double, and he really looks like RH. Personally I think this is great news, that someone who is unknown should fill the void, rather than use an existing star. Give the guy a chance I say. Here's the article: "Double Dore"

I know how you feel, ES. I've been searching for Snape stuff forever and can't find any. I always check out Wal-Mart and other places when I go to the mall, but I never find any :(.

BTW, saw my first HP2 trailer last night on TV. There was one very brief shot of Snape in the background as they showed Lockhart tumbling over his head and through the air. :-( At least I've seen 1 trailer!

Gotta go, talk to you all later! :-)

GML, blown your windows open during the night? Oh, I'm imagining something so charming. You don't have those awful screens on your windows. You don't have those ugly metal-edged windows with metal fasteners that no wind could ever blow open. You have windows like in TMD. Very English. (I'm from the U.S.) If only Alan was sitting on your window seat wrapped in a blanket, the picture would be perfect.

Oh joy of joys, our local town centre has just opened a new shopping mall last week and not only is there a brand new cinema with comfy seats (where I'll be spending a lot of time in November!) but they've opened a Warner Bros shop. :-)

Not all is well though, despite their having various Slytherin items for kids like tiny hats, scarves and socks, I didn't manage to find a single item with Snape on that wasn't one of those drawings that looks nothing like Alan. Why is Snape stuff so hard to find? :-(

I seem to remember someone posting a knitting pattern for a HP wooly scarf somewhere, so I'm off in search of that. I'll be sitting in the cinema wrapped up in my scarf swooning over Alan/Snape in approximately 12 days. Yippee!!

I remembered to turn all my clocks forward! Day-light savings was the best idea ever! Roll on those long hot Summer days! Just hoping that we escape the bushfires that are the down-side of our Aussie Summers! (Especially in my 'neck of the woods!) Had a chuckle at concerned citizen's statement about reality of living with AR. Couldn't help thinking, "Yeah, you're probably right - but he's soooooooo GORGEOUS!!!" I'd also venture to say, however, that RH, being a successful politician/public figure in her own right, (albeit not to the extent of her partner),is probably used to a fair amount of public scrutiny. She is also evidently, an intelligent and independently-minded enough woman, that she wouldn't stay in a relationship that she didn't feel happy in. That is, he may be a pain in the a..e, but there's enough about him to make it all worth while. See! She thinks he's gorgeous too! Lucky thing...(grumble...mutter...whine...)

'morning!

(I forgot to turn the clock back and got out of bed an hour earlier than needed, umph!)

Anyway, in answer to the Love Actually set visit auction prize, I read some time ago in the local press that a family with a teenage daughter on a media studies course won it, along with the visit to the BBC2 studios also on auction. The whole auction raised about £9000 (~ US$ 13500) , I can't remember how much the set visit itself went for or even if it was mentioned, but I remember the mother being quoted as saying something like 'we may have to live on bread and water for a while but it's worth it!' ;) Uh, I say some people have generous parents... mine would not even let me join the cheap school trip to England when I was studying English! (*puts on sulky face*...;)

Uh, not only did I get up too early, I also got up to find that the unusually high winds had blown my windows open during the night, littered my flat with dead leaves and other unidentified brown bits and even moved some of the lighter items around. I'm going back to bed. Bye!

I would consider myself a truly die hard fan of Mr. Rickman. "Truly, Madly, Deeply" is indeed a favorite film of mine. I particularly am fond of Alan's work in such films as "Rasputin", "Sense and Sensibility", and "An Awfully Big Adventure". I feel absolutely stunned. I heard the news of Richard Harris' death on the radio this afternoon. I had heard about his confinement but hadn't realised that it was so serious. I think about the accounts that Malachie McCourt gives of him in his book, "A Monk Swimming" tho', and have to smile...the man has lived a full life and takes away many good memories, and quite a few years of drunken oblivion! His life has certainly come full circle - "Dumbledore". What a truly majestic and noble character, played by a truly incredible man. "Gone to a better place". On a happier note- thanks all for the scrummy photos. Thinking truly evil thoughts about gorgeous Hollywood actresses touching up Our Man! Thanks ES for the sound bite - can't wait to hear it! Hello and thanks everybody for the various news, good and bad. I read only a few days ago about Richard Harris's illness and something about his going home after the treatment, it all sounded fairly promising, this is unexpected. I suppose it is a good thing that the illness was short and that he lived his life to the full till the end... This is going to turn the viewing of HP II into a somewhat more emotional time than planned.

Hear Hear! Jizel. Richard Harris had a fantastic career on stage and screen. Dumbledore was not his only role in life.

My fondest memory of him was as King Arthur in Camelot! He and Vanessa Redgrave was made for those roles! Then "A Man Called Horse", "Orca, The Killer Whale", and "This is the Sea", and so many more!

And just as Our Guy, he dipped once into the directing pool with "The Hero".

I too saw Camelot with Richard Harris, and was amazed how he managed to convey the different ages of Arthur. How sad for his family, friends and colleagues. The children may have their first introduction to the death of someone they have known. How fortunate that Mr. Rickman can empathize and understand how it feels for the very young to lose someone. Thank you ever so much, Claudia, for the videos of Alan's Emmy acceptance and his appearance in "Girls On Top". They are wonderful...and brightened up my day since I'm home sick with the flu...and only days away from my Birthday. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself, when my Honey said to me: "Since you're sick and should stay in bed and you're so awful at staying in bed when you ought to rest, I'll go get you some videos to help pass the time, so why don't you pick out some of what's-his-name's movies and I'll go get them for you." Here's the link to the NY HPCOS press transcript.

On "Extra", Emma Watson (Hermione) said her favorite part was meeting Kenneth Branagh, who was "not intimidating at all" and said she "talked with him for hours." Daniel Radcliffe again mentioned the duel as his favorite scene, and said he liked doing most of his own stunts. When Emma Watson was asked if she could cast a spell--any spell--which would magic, she said she'd like to make Richard Harris (Dumbledore) get better. What a sweetie.

Re: Harry Potter and the COS press junket

New York City, October 22, 2002

Q: Have the Harry Potter books become beloved in a way that, people like Kenneth Branagh want to join in, it's not hard to attract feature actors to parts in the film?

DH: We've been really lucky, the books from the very beginning have attracted people. We've got everyone we wanted on film one and everyone we wanted on film two. So I guess the answer to that is yes. The books are wonderful and kids of all ages, six to 106 seem to want to be a part of them.

Q: Your negotiations with Kenneth Branagh. It got out that he was considered for the next director.

DH: Yes, absolutely true.

Q: There were negotiations?

DH: No negotiations. That may have been created by someone, it's fantastic the way that works. Kenneth Branagh was not, we were not in negotiations with Kenneth Branagh. Maybe the word 'discussions' became misinterpreted as negotiations. We discussed with several directors their approaches to the film and ultimately decided to go with, I think, the hugely talented Alfonso Cuaron.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint

Q: Which scene from this movie were you most excited to shoot, dramatically speaking as opposed to the special effects sequences?

DR: I think in this film I loved the dueling scene because there's this huge crowd there and I like filming scenes with loads of people, plus Kenneth Branagh and Alan Rickman together was just fantastic to watch.

Q: In this film you have two great actors, Jason Isaacs and Kenneth Branagh, who are amazing in it. Talk a little bit about working with them. Also, did you do anything to initiate them into the group, being the new guys on the set?

DR: It was amazing working with Jason and Kenneth Branagh. Not only are they two of the most fantastic actors in Britain, but they're also two of the nicest people. As far as initiation goes, not that I know of.

EW: Yeah, exactly. They're two of the most fantastic actors on the set, and off two of the nicest guys ever. And also the funniest.

RG: Yeah, I was a bit nervous at meeting them at first but they're just really nice people and down to earth and funny.

A complete transcript of the interview is on the Leaky Cauldron website.

Re: Alan's American accents. I think his accent is very good in Bob Roberts and Dark Harbor. There is just one word in each movie where his real accent shows through. Regarding Judas Kiss, how many non-Southern Americans can do a good Southern accent? And a specific one? For instance, I'm from New York, and there's a big difference in accent depending on where in New York you're from. So, I wouldn't even know how AR was supposed to sound. I think Southern accents are varied and difficult. Most of us Yankees sound ridiculous trying to do our version of a generic Southern accent.

Third: The woman with Our Man is unidentified. It is not Rima, Sheila, nor the friend that accompanied him to the Tonys this year. Does anyone recognize her?

Finally: As you view the videos, please keep in mind that my capture card is a dinosaur and the audio and video isn't always in sync.

Hope you will "scuse" me but I just can't resist and I haven't posted in a while!

Yes, Rima is definitely the luckiest woman in the world!
Thanks Jude! :-). I love his Yorkshire accent. There are sometimes when he doesn't do good American accents, but I did think he did a passable one in DkH. There were a few times when he didn't do a good job but there were other times that he did.
Okay ES, now you've infected me with the January Man bug! I'm itching to go off and buy it on DVD now!
In fact, I think I might...

There IS a God!!! Aussie viewers - Vic. at least! GQ is on Ch 9, Sunday at 8.30! See, God takes pity on we poor lil' plebs who can't access pay-t.v! Cute tho' - I saw the ad' about two hours after a friend dropped off her copies of GQ and AABA! Fun to compare the t.v. version with the video I suppose! I want THAT book from e-bay! I may possibly have to sell my house to afford the postage... Market's good at the moment and I'm sure park-benches aren't as uncomfortable as they make out! Have to check in and track its progress! New favourite line from RHPOT - (directed to two cowering female servants in a lusty command), "You! - My room - 10.30! You! 10.45! ...and bring a friend!" (Pick me! Pick me!) Can't comment on accents cos' besides Metatron, I've only heard his smooth, silky refined English accent, which is more than good enough for me, and when uttered in that reverberating baritone, still makes me go weak at the knees... Janine - I hear ya... The first time I 'multizoned' my DVD player, I was all tentative, but now... Most of the time all it involves is opening they tray, pressing in some numbers and then closing the tray. And usually, if you can make it multizone, you can do the same to return it to Zone 4

I don't think he butchers American accents, he does them well, you can occasionally hear a word with an inflection that gives him away. (I'm American.) For a man with no chest hair, he can grow a really nice beard. I always thought men with light arm and chest hair, (or none), didn't have much facial hair either, or perhaps there is no connection? Well, I guess there isn't, just look at Alan. Thanks for that January Man picture. What a face, ay carumba!
Eleanor

Hi Severina, yes Sally is right there is no Alan doing the Aussie accent in QDU. Which is in keeping with the landed gentry of the day. Even if they were born here they used to ship the Colonial kids off to the mother England for refinement. Mind you something happened last century, think of Mal Fraser Australian educated with the rounded vowels and Rhodes scholar Bob Hawke sounding like he did.

You could try some Video libraries for QDU. The small non frachised ones might have it. My video library became a franchised type and sold off the good stuff (Oh I know I am still not over the selling B.C. and QDU, before I could get my hands on them)

Did you know there is a Cafe with the theme QDU! It is out Warnambool way. I have never been. Next time I drive to Adelaide, ...it has been 13 years and we keep saying we will...drive...hmmm...they might have memorabelia....hmm..Where is my map..Has anyone been? Sally?

Pablo Neruda is thought by most critics to be one of the finest poets of the Twentieth Century, certainly one of the best to have ever worked in free verse. Just wanted to say that any hunt for his poems is well worthwhile. Even in translation, they are awesome. Hmmm...now Alan *playing* Pablo. That would be something. :-)

Hi Severina from Melbourne. You mentioned you'd love to hear Alan with an Aussie accent in Quigley Down Under. However, he plays the role of a British land owner, and uses his own lovely accent in the film. It would be interesting to hear him try an Aussie accent - would he be more successful with that, compared to the American accents he seems to butcher? LOL.

How do we find the Pablo Neruda poem that Jamie recites in TMD? What's a good web site to search for poems? I found many, but none that helped me with Pable Neruda. Dear Spider, There is a Pablo Neruda poem on the back of one of Jackson Browne's albums, are you familiar with it? It's very pretty, part of it goes something like....brown and agile child, nothing draws me to you, everything pulls away from me here in the noon...you are the power in the wheat, the drunkenness of the wave, dusky butterfly, sweet and sure, like the wheatfield, the sun, the poppy, and the water...

Mary Anne: Browning! Of course! I should have known - it echoed in this aging BritLit major's memory... CL SPOILER: As for the Interrogator's deterioration, I had thought to chalk it up to sheer frustration - every time his no-doubt tried and true techniques seem about to succeed, the prisoner is able to recover her resolve. It dawns on him that he might not get her to confess. Anyway, I'm such a cynic that I see him repeatedly trying to throw her off balance by offering a (false) hope and then crushing it. (Just as he does when she throws herself on the floor.)Those regretful pauses could be more of the same. Even if his regret is real, it doesn't stop him from continuing his work. He does realize, I think, that she's the stronger person. But of course, any of these theories are possible. We can't easily tell whether what we see on the screen is the prisoner's perspective (perhaps she imagines the rainy night drive?), the interrogator's, or even the director's. Lots of nice touches - his coat lining the only color in the room - and it's repeated in the cartoon sequence of the cat's wings. She's starting to conflate the cat with the man? And the sequence with him splashing her with the water - is she subconsciously recognizing his deception, or is that the director cuing in the viewer? END SPOILERS Isn't this fun? I can't do this discussion/dissection of character and motivation with my 175 12-year olds. I can, however, post numerous images of AR-as-Snape around the classroom - have to encourage them to read a good book, don't I? Now to look up that Browning... Incidently, and slightly OT, has anyone else developed a passion for Neruda since watching TMD? I should own stock in Amazon...

Hello Spider! Question2: CLOSET LAND SPOILER. I think that the moments of instrospection of The Interrogator are genuine since only us are able to see them, therefore they aren't intended to deceive The Woman. We see him driving his car under the rain, as if The Woman's question about how did he became the monster that he now is, had already occurred to him previously. But she cannot possibly see all this.

Still can't find QDU anywhere - sooooooooo want to hear AR doing the accent! When is the proposed release date of LA? ...Troubled times we are living in, no doubt about it but all you can do is rejoice that the sun comes up each morning, God's in his/her heaven, AR's with RH, (yes, I'm truly happy for them...sniff...)and the next HP hits the cinemas in a few months!
Severina
Melbourne, Australia - Thursday, October 24, 2002 at 05:40:39 (PDT)

Good morning, Spider!

1) The poem that The Interrogator is quoting is by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. It's one of her sonnets that begins, "Because thou hast the power and own'st the grace . . ." If you want to see the full text, pick up a copy of Browning's Sonnets from the Portuguese.

2) Remorseful? I change my mind every time I see CL! (Which I admit isn't often; my heart wouldn't take the strain.) I think this is one of Rickman's finest film performances, and one of the reasons I think that is because of that "is he or isn't he" quality. Frankly, I wouldn't trust that guy as far as I could throw him with an anvil tied to his leg. But one of the strong points of the film for me is to watch the victim growing stronger and stronger in her resistance, while The Interrogator begins to come apart like a house of cards in a high wind. That moment when she's repeating over and over that there is no justification for cruelty, and then *he* starts saying it with her . . . brrrrr!

Sally--it just seems to me that the panoramic sweeps of the landscape are too perfect not to have some kind of post-filming enhancement. Usually you can see a little bit of vibration from the helicopter or something. I know the landscape is real, and all the events filmed are real, but those aerial views are just a little too good to be true!

Glad that people are still able to buy this show.

Good Morning! Finally delurking to ask for input on the last film added to my collection.(apologies if I screw up the HTML - don't dare ask my teen son for help on this!

CLOSET LAND SPOILER: question 1 - the Interrogator seemed to be quoting (a poem?) that referred to "my soul". I wasn't fast enough to write down the quote, and he refers to it twice. Haven't the nerve to pop the tape in again, in deference to the spouse, who's been a saint over this obsession. Has anyone identified the quote? question 2 - The Interrogator has moments of apparent introspection or regret, but we are at odds over whether it's genuine or calculated. Husband thinks it's genuine (he's more the romantic than I); I'm leaning toward calculation, although one of the possibly "remorseful" moments does happen while the woman is blindfolded. What is the consensus here?

If someone has found a way to 'flash' your DVD player, it will be listed. I did once track down the flash for an el cheapo DVD player from Target in the newsgroups at google (click on the "groups" tag on the google homepage- so persistant pays off here! Good luck.

Thank you Barbara the Australian and Gaye in Adelaide for your postings. I shall be nice to my friends with Fox as we are an Optus house. I still have not recovered from my video library selling B.C. to someone else. At least I managed to get J.M. I missed out on QDU too. I know you can buy these things for real money yet I think it is a bonus to get them cheaply. Some video libraries are still selling G.Q.

I went down to Mornington a few weeks ago. Opposite the Mornington Gallery is a huge Antique Market/permanent trash and treasure. One stall had Blow Dry on DVD. It was pricey at about $55 (I Think) yet alas it was for the American Zone DVD.

I know there is a way of altering the DVD to make it Multi-zoned. By going to the maufacture of the DVD's website and decoding it but I thought I would not like to torment myself if this was not true. So if there is someone less stingy then me and with the correct zoned DVD. You know where to look. Janine

Ali-Pat, there is NOTHING CGI-enhanced about the scenes in eEco-challenge Argentina! I hope you are only referring to the fact they uses night film to capture the teams as they went at it 24 hours a day. Otherwise, rest assured, that terrain was 100% genuine and those people were out there, in the elements, wet, cold, freezing, melting, exhausted and workign together to cross the grueling patagonian landscape via the prescribed mountainous route! No blue screen and cushy studio with wind machine and rain maker in this documentary! Now, AR was probably quite cosy in his recording story when doing the narration... :-)

(To the Tune of The Flintstones)
Harry, Harry Potter
He's the greatest boy in History
At the School of Witchcraft
He is going to study Wizardry.
There is kindly Albus Dumbledore
Hagrid, Snape and many many more
Harry, Harry Potter
How I want to see the movie
I need to see it
I want to see it NOW!!!

This next one is the newest installment, to be sung to the tune of "Don't Cry for me Argentina".

Please come back soo, Harry Potter!
The Chamber of Secrets is open.
All that adventure
The giant spiders
And dear old Sev'rus...
I want to see him...

OK, so It's not as true to the original rhyme scheme as I would have hoped, but it's pretty successful, I think! :)

Hey, Jude! (sorry, coudn't resist but should have) Yes, it is the same actor in BD and HPSS. And you have just pointed out some of my favorite bits from BD as well. Those and the boozy late night interlude with the radio.

Amanda, I also LOVE Blow Dry and Phil Allen! ***SPOILER????**** Love the look Phil gives Raymond Roberson when Ray realizes that Louie doesn't get the "carrot top". Love everything about the movie. Lots of good lines from all the actors: "He looks like bloody Sid Viscious!" Do you know if the actor who says "Stealing my bloody sheep!" is the same actor that plays Filch in Harry Potter? I love Phil and Sandra's entrance to the Total Look competion, his tatooed feet and his accent.

Thanks Ali-Pat, my favourite line:

"Listen to your shrew. In her nagging, there is wisdom." How true!

I found that KOTH transcript--it is on the ARmamentARium.

The "good wench" line is indeed from the "Joust Like a Woman" episode of King of the Hill. I think that is the best line in the episode, followed closely by , "How now, Gas Man?". Seems to me that somebody has a videogram on their site, or screen captures, or a transcript... Time to go Googling.

On a completely different note, I was watching the Eco Challenge Argentina documentary last night, (AR narrates in case you are wondering what the connection is), and was again struck by the incredible landscape those folks were traversing. I realize a lot of it is CGI enhanced, but it is still stunning. I think I would have watched this documentary even if AR weren't involved! You can still buy it from Discovery Channel, if you are interested.

Am I right in thinking its from King of the Hill? I've not seen it myself but I'd love to get hold of a copy.

What "wench" is so hard to find? What does AR say in the Flights of fancy guestbook? Annu

The reason for wearing bigger jewelery in higher age is: Then they can afford it! It´s like cars, the old guys drive a big Mercedes or a Porsche, the young ones a VW Golf or something like that... ;-))))))))))))) And people in my age have a Kombi because of the children and the big food-shopping-tours. ;-))))

I wasn't even thinking of Rima. Someone posted that as she got older her jewelry got bigger. That reminded me of the play Prelude to a Kiss. A clue, in the play, to a woman's advanced age was her chunky charm bracelet. I also notice that my grandmas wear big jewelery. The point was the poster said something like, I don't know why but I wear bigger jewelry as I get older. My point was it is not unusual. Thoughts of Rima were far from my mind. Of course, anyone of any age can like big jewelry. (Or is it jewelery?) Did it seem to people that I was attacking Rima? Gee whiz, I wasn't. It seems to me that with Rima and Alan, opposites attract. I don't mean physically.

I brought up the necklaces because I thought they were striking and possibly gifts. No criticism meant. (I'm being over-sensitive, I know, but also laughing.)

Seems pretty darned fine to me that his s.o. isn't just arm-candy. She must have presence, brains, and be very articulate to be an elected member of what I believe we in this country would call the city council of London. She must also have a very good sense of self (lots of ego strength), or be the "saint" he's referred to, to deal with the "In Demand" video, just for one example. Although they might not have been living together at the time; I dunno. I'm close to them in years (a "60s" person) but I would find "In Demand" more difficult to deal with than any of the others. Is this just too off-topic or inappropriate for the GB venue? Open to direction here!

Hey guys, it's one thing to ogle at Alan, but it is quite another to attack his *significant other. There is no need to be tearing apart her fashion choices. If Alan likes her, she must be an awfully great lady, because heaven knows Alan has his choice of women. Thanks to whoever posted the links for the pic. Alan looks so happy! As long as he's happy, what his girlfriend wears is irrelevant.

Amanda, great choice with "Rasputin." I can't imagine any other actor bringing one of history's most enigmatic figures to such vivid life, helping us understand what made such a hitherto unfathomable real life personage tick. I sure didn't get any clues to what comprised the "mad monk's" actual sway over people from any history books.

FastFilm--good advice. Own 'em both, and many others. My favorite *movie* has to be Rasputin, but my favorite *character* is Phil Allen from Blow Dry. I *loved* Blow Dry, is there anyone else out there who liked Phil? I mean, better than the ones you usually see trumpeted to the winds?

Amanda in San Antone, 'glad it sunk in! Your epiphany is a somewhat shared experience here as many have confessed. Now check out "Sense & Sensibility" and "Truly Madly Deeply" for the romantic side of AR to balance out all that action and sci-fi/fantasy.

Nope, Meryl. Good guess, but try again. Let's see if you can wrinkle it out of me (sorry, couldn't resist :-).). Yes, he's still on it, and you're right, he can't save the show. I liked seasons 1-4, but 5 I don't like, and I haven't seen 6 or 7 (which just started). I just went downhill bigtime. I hardly ever watch it anymore because I got so disgusted by it, and I can't stand to look at Mr. BTVS without being ashamed that I could ever like someone like him before AR wooed me over.

Instead, I watch Star Trek :-).
